1769: The First Guinness Exports!
Just ten years after Guinness is first brewed in St. James Gate, Dublin, the beautiful magic brew is first exported from Ireland. Six and a half barrels left for England. The rest is history!

1897: Oscar Wilde Released from Jail
A heart broken, physically broken Oscar Wilde is released from prison after two years of hard labor. His experiences in prison were the basis for his poignant work, The Ballad of Reading Gaol (1898).

Following his release, Wilde fled to Paris and began writing again. He died of acute meningitis just three years after his release age 46, virtually destitute. Wilde converted to Catholicism on his deathbed.
His gravestone bears lines from The Ballad of Reading Gaol.
And alien tears will fill for him,
Pity’s long-broken urn,
For his mourners will be outcast men,
And outcasts always mourn.
