1968: Richard Nixon elected President of the United States. Nixon had Irish connections on both sides. Thomas Milhouse of Timahoe emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1729 was an ancestor of Hannah Milhouse – Nixon’s mother.
1987: Death of consummate Irish broadcaster and television personality Eamonn Andrews. Andrews is most famous for This Is Your Life which he hosted for 19 years.
