Today in Irish History: Actor Tyrone Power Dies. Anglo Irish Agreement 1985

1777: The Articles of Confederation, the first written constitution of the United States is adopted by the Continental Congress. A number of the Congress were Irish born including secretary of the Congress Charles Thomson who was born in Maghera, County Derry in 1729.

1958: Screen idol Tyrone Power, descendant of Irish born actor and comedian Tyrone Power (1795-1841) dies at age of 44 from a heart attack.

1985: Anglo-Irish Irish Agreement signed which gives Dublin government an advisory role in Northern Ireland, much to the fury of the Loyalist community.
