1533: England’s King Henry VIII, Lord of Ireland and self declared King of Ireland (1541) marries Anne Boleyn after divorcing Catherine of Aragon.
1806: Painter and illustrator Daniel Maclise is born in Cork. Maclise lived much of his life in London, but retained a strong attachment to his homeland, often romanticizing it in his work.
